School Visits
In talking with students (grades two through seven), my goal is to involve them in the reading/writing process, both through listening to my stories and by practicing their own writing skills.
When referring to my current books, The TRACKS, The GRAVEYARD, The WINDMILL, and The BLUE POOL. I explain the background information before reading excerpts from the books. This includes sharing artifacts from the time period of the setting in rural West Kentucky in 1914.
I also touch on the following aspects regarding students doing their own writing:
